1. Who we are
moqyi (“moqyi”, “we”, “us”) makes an iPhone app for capturing voice notes and this website. moqyi is run from Canada by its founder. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the website, the beta waitlist and the moqyi app, why, and what you can do about it. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies to you, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. What we collect
Beta waitlist (website). Your email address. Optionally: your first name, what you shoot, which iPhone you have, an Instagram handle or portfolio link, and whether you want build notes by email. We also record the page you signed up from, any campaign tags in the link (UTM parameters), and the dates you signed up, confirmed and were invited.
Contact form. Your reason for writing, name, email, message and an optional screenshot.
Guide feedback. Whether a help guide was useful and an optional comment. No name or email.
The moqyi app. An account created with Sign in with Apple, and the content you create: notes, audio recordings, transcripts, projects, checklists, client briefs, links to footage in your photo library (the footage itself is never copied), tags and version history.
Security data. To stop abuse we keep a one-way hash of your IP address for rate limiting and use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that forms are submitted by people. We never store your raw IP address in our database.
3. Where it’s stored
Recordings are written to your iPhone as you speak and saved there first. Saving never waits on the internet. When you’re online, moqyi syncs your notes to your account, hosted by Supabase in the Canada Central region. Every table is protected by row-level security so that only your account can read or change your notes. Waitlist, contact and feedback records are stored in the same Canadian project and can only be accessed by our server.
4. On-device transcription
Transcription happens on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device speech recognition. Your audio is not sent to us or to anyone else to be transcribed.
5. Analytics & cookies
The website uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner. The only thing the site stores in your browser is your choice to dismiss the announcement bar, and your email in session storage while you finish signing up — both stay on your device.
6. Email
We use Resend to send email. When you join the waitlist we send one confirmation email. If you confirm, we email you when your TestFlight invite is ready. We only send build notes if you ticked the box to receive them. Every email has an unsubscribe link, in line with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
7. Service providers
We share personal information only with providers that help us run moqyi, under contracts that limit their use of it:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sync and file storage | Canada (Canada Central) |
| Vercel | Website hosting and cookieless analytics | United States and global edge network |
| Resend | Sending email | United States |
| Cloudflare | Turnstile bot protection | Global |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, TestFlight, on-device speech recognition | Per Apple’s privacy policy |
Some providers process data outside Canada. When that happens your information is subject to the laws of that country. We never sell your personal information and never use it for advertising.
8. Optional AI (later)
A future paid tier may offer AI categorizing and summaries. These would need to send note text to an AI provider over the internet. They will be off by default and only used if you turn them on. We will update this policy and name the provider before any such feature launches.
9. Retention & deletion
Deleted notes stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days so you can restore them, then they are permanently deleted. You can delete your account from inside the app, which deletes your synced notes. Waitlist records are kept until the beta ends or you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Contact messages are kept for up to two years. Rate-limit records are overwritten continuously.
10. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, withdraw consent to email, or complain about how we handle it. Write to the address below; we’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re in Canada you can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If GDPR applies to you, you also have the rights to data portability, to restrict or object to processing, and to complain to your local supervisory authority. You can export your notes from the app at any time as Markdown or text.
11. Children
moqyi is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
12. Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top. For significant changes we’ll post a note on the changelog and, if you’re on the waitlist or use the app, email you before they take effect.
13. Contact
Questions or requests about privacy: email the address below or use the contact form and choose “Privacy request”. Mailing address: [[PLACEHOLDER: mailing address]].
