Terms of Use
On this page
The short version
- moqyi is in beta. It may change, break or lose features while we build it.
- Your notes and recordings are yours. We only use them to run the service for you.
- Core capture is free. Any paid tier will be optional and announced on the changelog first.
- Don’t use moqyi to break the law or to record people where that isn’t allowed.
- You can stop using moqyi and delete your account at any time.
1. Agreement
These terms apply to the moqyi website, the beta waitlist and the moqyi iPhone app (together, “moqyi”). By using moqyi you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use moqyi.
2. The beta
moqyi is pre-release software distributed through Apple’s TestFlight. Features may change, be removed or not work as expected. Each beta build expires after 90 days. Keep your own copies of anything important — you can export your notes at any time. Beta builds are also governed by Apple’s TestFlight terms. Please don’t share beta builds or invite links publicly unless we say you can.
3. Your account
You sign in with Apple. You’re responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your device secure. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use moqyi.
4. Your content
You own the recordings, transcripts and notes you create. You give us a limited licence to store, sync, back up and process them only so we can provide moqyi to you. We don’t use your content to train AI models and don’t sell it. Feedback you send us (for example through TestFlight) can be used to improve moqyi without any obligation to you.
5. Acceptable use
Don’t use moqyi to break the law, infringe others’ rights, harass anyone, store illegal content, or attempt to access other people’s data, probe or overload our systems, or reverse-engineer the app except where the law allows it.
6. Recording others
Laws about recording conversations differ by place. In Canada a conversation may generally be recorded with the consent of one participant, but other places require everyone’s consent. You are responsible for getting any consent the law requires before recording another person, for example during a client consultation.
7. Pricing
Core capture is free. If we introduce a paid tier, it will be optional, its price will be announced on the changelog first, and it will be sold through the App Store under Apple’s terms. We won’t move features that are free in the core plan behind a paywall.
8. Our software
moqyi’s app, website, name and design belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for as long as these terms apply.
9. Disclaimers
moqyi is provided “as is” and “as available”, especially during the beta. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that no data will ever be lost. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can’t be waived.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or business. Our total liability for any claim relating to moqyi is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and CAD $50.
11. Ending these terms
You can stop using moqyi and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we end the beta or the service, in which case we’ll give reasonable notice where we can so you can export your notes.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, unless the law of your place of residence requires otherwise. [[PLACEHOLDER: confirm province with counsel]]
13. Changes
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, post on the changelog or notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use moqyi after that means you accept the updated terms.
